Our Mission

Mission Statement — Updated Spring 2010

De Anza Students

De Anza College provides an academically rich, 
multicultural learning environment that challenges 
students of every background to develop their intellect, 
character and abilities; to realize their goals; and to be 
socially responsible leaders in their communities, the 
nation and the world. 

De Anza College fulfills its mission by engaging students 
in creative work that demonstrates the knowledge, skills 
and attitudes contained within the college’s Institutional Core Competencies:

  • Communication and expression   
  • Information literacy   
  • Physical/mental wellness and personal responsibility  
  • Global, cultural, social and environmental awareness

The accreditation of De Anza College was reaffirmed by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) at it January 2012 meeting. The college, which received six commendations and three recommendations, will provide ACCJC with a Follow-Up Report in October 2012 and host commission representatives on a subsequent visit to the college.

De Anza College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, 10 Commercial Blvd., Suite 204, Novato, CA 94949, 415.506.0234, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.
