Transfer Planning |
Admission Requirements for Indepdendent/Private Colleges and UniversitiesStudents are advised to meet with a De Anza College counselor or academic advisor to develop an Education Plan and to better understand requirements for successful transfer. What are admission requirements for Independent/Private Colleges and Universities? Admissions requirements vary from institution to institution and by major or program of study. There is no standard set of admission requirements among independent/private college and universities. In addition to setting its own unique admission requirements, each independent/private college or university takes into consideration the talents and academic promise of each individual student. For additional information about independent/private colleges and universities in California, go to www.aiccu.org. What advice can you give me about transferring to Private Colleges?
Which private universities offer a Guaranteed Admission Program? Kettering University (Michigan) and Santa Clara University are two private universities that participate in the Transfer Admission Agreement (TAA) program at De Anza College. Go to the Guaranteed Admission page for guidelines, timelines, and procedures for submitting a TAA with one of these campuses. Where can I find additional application, transfer and financial information for independent/private colleges and universities? CaliforniaColleges.edu -- Admission and career planning information for Independent/Private and public colleges and universities in California AICCU.org -- Independent/Private colleges and universities in California CollegeSource.org -- links to Web sites for independent/private and public colleges and universities in and outside of the U.S.*
*This web site is accessible through De Anza's Learning Center and many other computers on campus. If accessing from home or business you have a free trial option, but then subscription required. May also be accessible from computers at other educational institutions and libraries.
Caution: The final responsibility for a successful transfer program rests with the student. Resources online and at De Anza College are designed to assist you in getting as accurate information as possible. This information changes frequently, however, and can impact your admission to the university. It is highly advised that you meet periodically with advisors at both De Anza College and at the prospective university to confirm your choice of classes and develop an educational plan.
