- 2,000 Spectators Expected to Witness the Annual "Duel at De Anza" Autocross - May 11, 2000
The annual "Duel at De Anza" autocross, which draws an average of 2,000 spectators each year and attracts competitors from throughout California, will take place in Parking Lot B at De Anza College on Sunday, May 21, at 9 a.m.
- Theatre Arts Department to Make Pilgrimage to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre - May 8, 2000
This fall, college students can travel to England with the Foothill-De Anza Study Abroad Program, provided that they sign up for the trip before the June 15 deadline.

Jeff Hamilton Trio to Appear at De Anza College
De Anza Music Department to Host the 19th Annual Patnoe Jazz Festival
The critically acclaimed Jeff Hamilton Trio will perform as guest artists at De Anza's 19th annual Herb Patnoe Jazz Festival on May 11 and 12.
The Trio will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Flint Center for the Performing Arts along with De Anza's Jazz Ensemble and Vocal Flight. Tickets to the performance are $10 for general admission and $7 for students and seniors. Proceeds benefit the Patnoe Music Scholarship Fund, which aids six De Anza music students each year.
On May 12, the Trio will give a free performance at 12:30 p.m. in De Anza's Choral Hall (Room A-11). Throughout the day, nine bands will play in the Arts' Quad; 10 jazz combos will perform in Room A-31; and seven to nine jazz choirs will sing in the Choral Hall. A mid-day jazz solo voice performance will be given in Room A-91.
Hamilton has recorded songs with musical legends such as Natalie Cole, Barbara Streisand, Mel Torme, and Count Bassie. He is a frequent guest of the WDR Big Band in Cologne, Germany, and appeared in Natalie Cole's Great Performances PBS special, "Unforgettable," as well as Oscar Peterson's documentary, "Life in the Key of Oscar."
"The festival is a great tradition honoring De Anza's first band director," said music instructor Robert Farrington. "Many students have received financial help over the years through the festival, and the concerts are always great musical experiences."
The Patnoe Jazz Festival runs from May 11 to May 12 on the De Anza campus. For more information, contact Farrington at (408) 864-8507.
