Meet Jack Lynch, A Distinguished Educator

Business instructor Jack Lynch has been named recipient of the fall quarter 2007 Distinguished Educator Award by Interim Vice President of Instruction John Swensson.

True to the tenets of his field, longtime businessman Lynch says he approaches teaching from a customer service orientation, aiming for "student success and retention. Our students are our customers and are the most important people on campus."

Lynch served as a part-time instructor for more than two years before being hired full time in 2005. He cites fellow business instructor David Stringer as an "incredible coach, mentor, supporter and friend," also noting the support he has received from Dean of Business/Computer Science Letha Jeanpierre and other faculty colleagues.

Stringer nominated Lynch for the award, writing in praise of the several courses Lynch has developed, including international business, delivered online. "Another reason for nominating Jack for this award is that he is well liked by his students," Stringer continued. "His classes tend to fill early because of his popularity as an instructor. He maintains high standards while exhibiting a caring attitude for all his students."

According to Swensson, Lynch has been a leader in all regards, and most of all, "we deeply appreciate and value his great teaching."
