4th Steering Committee Meeting

In the comprehensive workshop of this series, we will discuss the model minority myth and how students from the South East Asian (SEA) American, Filipino American, and Pacific Islander American communities are overlooked when it comes to discussions about under representation in higher education. In our 50-minute “fly by” workshops, you will

  • watch videos with student, faculty, and staff interviews that discuss the different challenges AAPI students face
  • learn a brief history of this population and how their immigration or refugee stories affect their perceptions of education.

A New Grant Project Begins!

On October 1, we were awarded a 5-year, $2 million AANAPISI grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

Building upon the success of the previous IMPACT AAPI grant project's LinC class series, this grant's activities focus on three curricular pathways designed to help students meet transfer requirements.

Our Activities

A. New Learning Community sequences to improve transfer Pathways:

  • LinC Readiness and Success in College-Level English
  • Readiness and Success in College-Level Math and English
  • Strategies for Preparation in STEM

To support our curricular pathways:

B. Development of Digital Modules for Academic & Student Services Support

C. New In-Class Support Through Classroom Success Liaisons (CSLs)

D. Faculty/Staff Professional Development to Improve AAPI Student Success

E. Increased AAPI Resource Development Capacity
