Please plan to submit your application and transcripts at least four weeks PRIOR to your registration date for the quarter in which you wish to take the world language course. Otherwise, the prerequisite may not be cleared in time for you to register for the course.

How do I know I need a prerequisite?

Prerequisites are listed in the Schedule of Classes and College Catalog.

Please note: Students who have not completed

their High School language within the previous calendar year may be required to take an online language assessment.

What is a Prerequisite?

If you are trying to register in a World Language Class and you are not able to, this means you

have not yet been cleared of the prerequisite requirement for the class.

Most World Languages classes (2nd Quarter

and above) have prerequisite requirements; these are courses lower in the sequence that must be  completed with a grade of C or better before you can register for the next level course.

How do I get a Prerequisite Clearance?

You must complete the following steps to show that you have satisfied the prerequisite requirements.

If you have not previously taken a language course, please see the see    Next Steps section box below.

Departments with *asterisks only offer the elementary-level coursework (levels 1, 2, and 3) and at present will not meet the two-year foreign language requirement for transfer.

For more on these languages check out our World Languages Page.
