What Do the Programs Offer?
The program is designed to prepare job seekers with disabilities for successful job placement in supported or community employment and to have students actively participate in their communities. The goal is to provide a range of activities that advance students toward their personal and employment goals.
To that end, students at each site participate in both work activity and floor production tasks as well as participate in classes. Weekly job preparation classes, computer training, leadership groups, communication classes and daily current events are held at both sites.
Sites also offer varied elective classes and activities to enhance students’ skills and abilities while preparing for community employment through the vocational work activity programs.
Students are placed at the individual sites by their referral agency, either the Regional Center or Department of Rehabilitation, based on client needs and geographic location.

Students are transported from their homes to the HOPE-De Anza site by regular public transportation, Mv Transportation, or VTA Paratransit, depending on determination by the San Andreas Regional Center case manager.
Can Prospective Students Visit the Program?
Yes! If interested in determining what the HOPE-De Anza program has to offer in your individual situation, come to see the program.
There are no visits available during college breaks or on college holidays. Check dates on the De Anza website calendar.
How are Classes Scheduled?
HOPE-De Anza classes follow the De Anza College's quarter system calendar, with the exception of summer. The HOPE-De Anza program offers an 11 week Summer quarter, in contrast to most on-campus classes that last 6 or 8 weeks. The start and finish of each quarter corresponds basically to the four seasons of the year.
Once enrolled, it is the expectation that students attend through the entire quarter period, after which they may re-enroll for the next quarter (see Enrollment section, below.)
Who is Eligible and How do Students Enroll?
New students who wish to enroll in the De Anza program at HOPE sites must be referred by the San Andreas Regional Center (SARC) or the State Department of Rehabilitation (DR). They may join the program only when the referral process is complete.
Students enroll for one quarter length session at a time. To continue in the following quarter session's classes, students must re-enroll quarterly. Re-enrollment takes place at each HOPE site and is facilitated by the De Anza instructor.
Fees for Class Enrollment
Community college enrollment fees are set by the state of California. However, for most HOPE-De Anza students there is no cost to enroll or the fee is very nominal.
Students referred for the program by the Regional Center or Department of Rehabilitation may be eligible for agency funding for the program. Most students receiving Social Security Disability Income (SSDI ) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) qualify for fee assistance through the Board of Governor's Grant Waiver (BOG-W program.) The HOPE-De Anza staff will provide assistance in applying for this and can provide additional information.

The HOPE-De Anza program is one of four programs that comprise De Anza's Disability Support Programs and Services Division. Three on-campus programs offer services and classes on the college's main Cupertino campus . These services and classes address the needs and goals of college students with disabilities who are enrolled and matriculating in the academic and vocational programs at the community college.
