Satisfactory Academic Progress

Status Definitions:  Good StandingWarning,  Probation,  Disqualification
  • Approved appeals result in the student being placed on SAP probation
  • Students may receive financial aid during terms of probation
  • Students can regain eligibility by making SAP at the end of one term of probation
  • Students must complete 67% of the units attempted along with a 2.0 GPA each quarter while on probation
  • Students must follow their academic plan while on probation
  • The institution will verify each term that the student is following the academic plan and/or meeting terms of probation; if not, the student becomes ineligible for federal and state student aid until SAP standards are met

Probation – Extended        At the end of the last quarter in which you attempted six or more units, you did not meet satisfactory progress requirements and were disqualified. You submitted an appeal describing the issues that you have resolved. Your appeal was approved for one additional quarter of probation. You must meet satisfactory progress requirements this quarter to reinstate yourself to good standing. If you do not meet satisfactory progress requirements this quarter you will return to disqualified status. Students are considered one time only for extended probation.

Probation – Conditional        At the end of the last quarter in which you attempted six or more units, you met the quarterly requirements but did not have a 2.0 cumulative GPA and were disqualified. You submitted an appeal describing the issues that you have resolved which will bring your cumulative GPA back up to 2.0 before you reach 90.0 units attempted.  Your appeal was approved. You must continue to meet quarterly satisfactory progress requirements to maintain conditional probation as your cumulative GPA increases until it reaches 2.0 before 90.0 units attempted.

Probation – One, Two, Three, Four, Five, or Six More Quarters     You had previously reached the maximum time frame and submitted a Request for Extension. Your appeal for additional time was approved for the number of quarters indicated. You must meet satisfactory progress requirements each quarter in order to count down the additional quarters you have been granted. If you do not meet satisfactory progress requirements each quarter, you will be disqualified. Students are considered one time only for extended time frame, which was granted to you already, so no further appeals will be considered.
Students on probation are eligible for aid during probationary quarters if all other eligibility criteria are met.
Students who fail to meet the satisfactory progress requirements at the end of the probationary quarter, will become disqualified from aid.
At the start of a new quarter, Students who are probation may have their financial aid delayed until their status can be determined.
