Satisfactory Academic Progress - Disqualification

Status Definitions:  Good StandingWarningProbation,  Disqualification

Disqualified – Unit Completion        In the last quarter in which you attempted six or more units, you did not earn the required number of units for your enrollment status. Since you were already on warning or probation status, you are now disqualified.

Disqualified – Quarterly GPA       In the last quarter in which you attempted six or more units, you did not earn a 2.0 GPA for the quarter. Since you were already on warning or probation status, you are now disqualified.

Disqualified – Cumulative GPA        At the end of the last quarter you did not have a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Since you were already on warning or probation status, you are now disqualified.

Disqualified – Maximum Time      At the end of the last quarter the number of units you have attempted of higher education is at the end of the maximum time frame. If you have not earned your degree or certificate, and would like to appeal for additional time of aid eligibility, you must complete the Request for Extension process. Students are considered one time only for appeals for extended time. No further appeals will be considered.

Disqualified – End of Extended Time      You had previously reached the maximum time frame and were either granted additional time which has now run out, or denied additional time. Students are considered one time only for appeals for extended time. No further appeals will be considered.

Students in a disqualified status are not eligible for any federal or state aid (except BOG Fee Waiver) including grants, loans, or work-study.

Students may appeal a disqualified status if they have not previously appealed. Appeals must examine the issues related to their inability to meet satisfactory progress requirements and outline steps they have taken to resolve, remedy, change, improve, or mitigate those issues. Students are notified by email whether an appeal is approved or denied.

Students may reinstate themselves to good standing by meeting all the satisfactory progress requirements in a future quarter within the maximum time frame.
