Hello & Welcome to LCEN 50.
My name is Pauline Yeckley and I am the instructor for this class! In addition to teaching I am also a librarian at De Anza College. Please feel free to come and visit me in the library, or telephone, or email whenever you have a question about our class. If you are taking other classes and have a question about research, we can also work on those projects.

To Add This Class:
If you would like to add this class after the registration period ends, send me an e-mail and I will e-mail an add code to you. For an add code, email: yeckley@rocketmail.com

We have only one class meeting and it is optional.
It is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2008 5:00 - 6:00 PM
in the library Internet lab. This meeting provides an introduction to the class and online resources available at De Anza.

Spring 2008
Here's how to get started in the course:

  • Make sure you have your own e-mail address and access to the Internet.
  • Plan to attend our class orientation on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 5:00-6:00 PM
in the Library Internet Lab. We will use the time to begin working on Assignment #1. If you are working and 5:00 PM is too early, come as soon as you can. I will be in the lab until 7:00 PM that night and have add codes for anyone wishing to add the class.

  • Send me a short e-mail introducing yourself. I will send a reply. This way we can make certain that we are connected by email.
  • Practice using the links located on the left side of this page. Do they all work?
  • Begin working on Assignment #1.
  • When you have completed Assignment #1, e-mail it to me before you begin working on Assignment #2.

I will correct and return assignments within 2-3 days. Please do not wait and send me all five assignments at one time. Send me one, then I can return it to you with feedback and corrections.

    WARNING! #1
Do not send your assignments as Attachments. I will not grade them unless they are sent in the body of an email.

    WARNING! #2
If you register for this class please complete the assignments. If you do not complete the assignments, or drop the class, and I do not hear from you, you will receive an F for the class grade. All five assignments and the final exam are due by 1:00 P.M., Thursday June 26, 2008.

Here is how to contact me:
  • By email: yeckley@rocketmail.com
  • By telephone: 408/864-8303
  • In addition to teaching this class, I will be working at the library reference desk:
    Fridays: 1:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Best wishes with this course, and please contact me whenever you have questions.
