College Math Preparation Level 2: Beginning Algebra

Textbook: Intermediate Algebra for College Students, 7th edition by Robert Blitzer.

IMPORTANT: Please Read before obtaining the book.

NOTE: I will not be using the MyMathLab software.

Materials: Pencil, eraser, paper, graph paper. Graphing or scientific calculator desirable.

Prerequisite: Qualifying score on the Math Placement Test within last calendar year; or Mathematics 210 with a grade of C or better, or equivalent. Advisory: EWRT 211 and READ 211 (or LART 211), or ESL 272 and 273.

Description: Application of linear functions, quadratic functions and linear systems to problems. Emphasis on the development of models of real world applications and interpretation of their characteristics.

Time Commitment: According to the college catalog, Units, page 35, “Students should expect two hours of outside preparation for each one hour spent in class.” Thus it is expected that students that take my classes should spend at least 8 hours a week outside of class.

Important: The use of cell phones, cameras, texting devices or any other unauthorized electronic devices are not allow in class.

Emails: If you are going to send emails to the instructor, be sure the 5 required items are in each email.

Cheating: cheating will not be tolerated. If caught, then a grade of 'F' will be assigned for the course and the division dean will be notified.
