English instructor Karen Chow (at right) invited her mother Josephine Chow to perform a Cantonese Chinese opera at De Anza on April 21. “My mom, who lives in Southern California, has become interested in learning opera during the last few years,” said Chow, a co-chair of the planning committee for this celebration. “She thoroughly enjoyed sharing this new interest with our students.” closed lips

Florida Is Their DestinationBonnie and Ron Warnock photo

Although not officially retiring from the district, our favorite De Anza couple is leaving the college soon to ... retire in Florida! They will be settling in their new home, spending a lot of time with their three children and 10 grandchildren, playing lots of golf, fishing, swimming and traveling. Bonni Warnock, who served as an administrative assistant in Budget and Personnel for five years, said her most significant contributions were to pay instructors on time and be a campus resource for payroll. Ron Warnock, our dean of Physical Education and Athletics for more than six years, says that he’s most proud of the development of the lifetime fitness curriculum and the subsequent program that evolved during his tenure. In addition, he was the chair of the design team that planned the state-of-the-art renovation of the P.E. Quad.closed lips
