Classified Recognition Award 2003-2004

The Classified Senate presented this recognition award to three valued supporters of the classified staff. Congratulations to each one of them!

Jim Haynes photo

Jim Haynes, executive head of Adapted Physical Education
Haynes—a great contributor to De Anza, the district and classified staff—provides the necessary flexibility within his department to allow staff members to be involved in participatory governance. When considering the time donated by Larry Bloom and Phyllis Garrison as past presidents, Haynes supported six consecutive years of major Classified Senate involvement by his staff. Members of his staff also have been involved in other activities, such as serving in union negotiations and on miscellaneous committees.

Judy Miner, interim presidentJudy Miner photo
The Classified Senate appreciated Dr. Miner’s open door policy during her year as interim president and has been aware of her support in minimizing layoffs of classified staff. Throughout the year, Dr. Miner participated in classified staff activities and at those events contributed her own special talent and creativity. Her efforts have been a morale booster for classified staff.

Kathy Plum, mathematics instructor
Kathy Plum photo Plum was incredibly supportive of the Classified Senate during her years as president of the Academic Senate. She was committed to attending the Classified Senate meetings on a regular basis and took the opportunity to share her own perspectives about college issues. Plum consistently demonstrates her respect and value toward the classified staff. When she stepped down from her own senate leadership role, she returned to the Classified Senate one more time to give out her own specially designed needlecraft work to each senator.
