A college education is a controversial topic: How long should ittake? How much should it cost? What should students learn? Educators, researchers, taxpayers, legislators, parents, and studentsare uncertain whether or not every student needs an exposure to manyareas of thought in science and the humanities or concentrated study in a few disciplines. But one area of college education is notcontroversial -- the need to acquire proficiency in using language. This class will concentrate on developing the expository writingskills necessary for success in further college studies as well asin business, professional, and civic activities.
