for Student Rights

Students, faculty and staff of De Anza will join UCs, CSUs and other community colleges in a statewide march to the state capitol to advocate for higher education.

De Anza College will provide free bus transportation to mobilize 200 students to Sacramento in an effort to stop to the cuts and fee hikes to education.

We are taking signups for seating on the bus but you must be at the parking lot on time to get your seat, first come, first serve basis. Bus riders will be required to sign a waiver.

WHY MARCH in SACRAMENTO?

Our purpose is to create greater awareness about the importance of higher education.

Although the passage of Proposition 30 is expected to give temporary relief to further cuts, the students will march through the streets of Sacramento to demand not only restoration, but the rebuilding of the higher education system in California, and we students demand greater support from the state legislators.

What we hope to achieve is institutional changes on how the government supports higher education, creating a statewide awareness about the importance of our education, and empowering students to be the instruments of change.

Most teachers are excusing their students from class on March 4th and several are giving extra credit for attending the march. Check with your teacher!  Reserve your spot on the bus to stand up for your right to an equal and affordable education!
