Office of Communications

Discovery is the first stage undertaken when redesigning a website. In this stage information is gathered about the current site and input is obtained from users to help align the redesign with the goals of the college. Activities include:

  • Review college site, social media and brand
  • Interview stakeholders
  • Conduct competitive research

Initial Feedback

In addition to performing a thorough site audit and reviewing websites from all public 2-year colleges in the country, the Office of Communications requested input on the website redesign by sending a survey to all faculty and staff and a large portion of students; creating an online feedback form; by attending several governance group meetings; and by offering several open input sessions.

This feedback was gathered and consolidated to help define priorities and goals for the redesign.

Some feedback was acted on immediately such as:

  • Directing the homepage MyPortal link to go directly to the MyPortal login screen
  • Updating the search algorithm to put more weight on newer pages when returning results
  • Adding a link to the Catalyst login to the home page
  • Updating images on the home page
