| About this Handbook | About the Child Development and Education DivisionDe Anza College Child Development and Education Division coursework provides an understanding of the foundation years of human development. Whether your goal is to be a better parent, student, counselor, or teacher, a developmental perspective contributes to greater effectiveness and success for you. All certificates and degrees in the division are designed to match professional licensing requirements and to encourage continuation to the next level of achievement. Beginning at De Anza and continuing on to four-year and research institutions, you can pursue the study of child development to the doctoral level. Instructors in our division have field experience as well as scholarly expertise. They have diverse specializations ranging from infant and toddler development to elementary education, from science curriculum to program administration, from language acquisition to musical expression. They welcome the opportunity to assist you in achieving your goals. Within the Child Development building, two laboratory schools provide teaching and learning environments for over 100 children and their families. Your instructor will arrange observation or participation in our programs as needed. Children who attend our laboratory/demonstration schools range in age from 8 months to 5 years. Index |
