Two Former De Anza Football Players Drafted by NFL this Spring
Former De Anza football players Will Davis, from Utah State, and Ty Powell, from Harding University, were selected respectively by the Miami Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks during the annual National Football League draft on April 25.
While at De Anza (2010), Davis earned first team All-Golden State Conference after posting eight interceptions, returning for two touchdowns. He was also a team captain while on De Anza’s football team.
Powell, too, served as one of the De Anza 2010 football team captains. He played as a safety and won the Golden Gate Conference Defensive Player of the Year award in 2010. Powell is the first player to be drafted out of Harding University in the last 30 years.
This is the first time in De Anza history that two players were drafted into the NFL in the same year. Coach Dan Atencio remembers both as excellent student-athletes who never missed a practice.
